CompTIA Cyberstates 2020™ reveals tech sector’s impact
Jackson, Miss. – Information technology (IT) employment in Mississippi totals more than 44,000 workers, according to Cyberstates 2020™, the definitive guide to the U.S. tech industry, occupations and trends published annually by CompTIA, the leading trade association for the global IT industry.
Net tech employment stood at 44,384 at the end of 2019, accounting for an estimated 3.7% of the state’s total workforce.[1] Between 2010 and 2019 net tech employment grew by just over 1,000 jobs. There are approximately 3,200 tech business establishments in Mississippi.
The tech sector accounts for 3.5% of the state’s total economy, an estimated $3.7 billion.
The median tech occupation wage in Mississippi is $63,024, 86% higher than the median wage for all occupations in the state.

Cyberstates 2020 is based on CompTIA’s analysis of data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, Economic Modeling Specialists International (EMSI), Burning Glass Technologies, Hoovers and other sources.
