WASHINGTON – CompTIA, the world’s leading technology association, released the following statement from CompTIA’s executive vice president for public advocacy Elizabeth Hyman regarding the Department of Homeland Security's release of its comprehensive cybersecurity strategy and the Administration’s announcement to eliminate the White House Cybersecurity Coordinator role.

“A cohesive and comprehensive cybersecurity strategy across all agencies within the federal government can only be accomplished when there is one office specifically tasked with coordination. We hope that the Administration re-considers its decision to eliminate the White House cybersecurity coordinator role,” said Elizabeth Hyman, executive vice president of advocacy for CompTIA.

“When it comes to cyber protections, the White House has staked out positive ground to secure critical infrastructure, modernize IT systems, and structure cyber risk management for the federal enterprise.  But, it needs to continue to set an example for all levels of government and the private sector. Unfortunately, today’s announcement falls short of fulfilling that responsibility.”
