Washington, D.C., MAY 1, 2020 – CompTIA, the leading association for the global information technology (IT) industry, applauded the introduction of the Relaunching America’s Workforce Act in the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate today. The following statement can be attributed to Cinnamon Rogers, executive vice president of public advocacy for CompTIA:

“Today’s introduction of the Relaunching America’s Workforce Act is an important step to ensuring workers are equipped with the training, skills and certifications needed in today’s workplace. As COVID-19 continues to impact communities and workers across the country, there is an urgent need for smart government policies and federal funding aimed at helping those who’ve lost their jobs, many of which may never return. The bill’s investments to support the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), career and technical education, dislocated workers, and apprenticeships will help build a future-ready workforce through hands-on, virtual and online learning opportunities for students and workers.

“Investment in IT training and certification programs will result in an upskilled and reskilled workforce that can better meet the demands of an evolving job market that is more reliant on technology than ever before. We appreciate the leadership in the House, led by Committee on Education and Labor Chairman Bobby Scott (D-VA) and Reps. Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR), Andy Levin (D-MI), Susan Davis (D-CA), Joaquin Castro (D-TX), Marcia Fudge (D-OH), Lucy McBath (D-GA), Susie Lee (D-NV), Haley Stevens (D-MI) and Joe Courtney (D-CT), and in the Senate, led by Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Ranking Member Patty Murray (D-WA) and Senators Tim Kaine (D-VA), Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) and Tina Smith (D-MN), and urge Congress to advance this important legislation that will help get Americans back to work.”
