CompTIA Urges Technology Industry to Assist Hurricane and Flood Victims

Aug 31, 2017

Leading tech association pledges 2-for-1 dollar match for donations to relief efforts

Downers Grove, Ill. – CompTIA, the world’s leading technology association, today launched an industrywide fundraising effort to assist victims of Hurricane Harvey in Texas and Louisiana and encouraged its corporate and individual members, partners and the wider technology community to join in the effort.

To incentivize potential donors, CompTIA will contribute $2 for every $1 pledged to the relief campaign up to $200,000.

"The heart-breaking scenes from Texas and Louisiana prompt the immediate reaction of ‘What can I do to help?’” said Todd Thibodeaux, president and CEO, CompTIA. “Right now, a donation of even a few dollars can help the tens of thousands of Americans who are in desperate immediate need of clothing and shelter, food and water. The people of CompTIA are committed to doing our part to provide assistance. We encourage others in the tech community to help out in any way that they can."

CompTIA has partnered with Heart to Heart International, a global humanitarian organization based in Lenexa, Kan., which has worked to improve health and to respond to the needs of disaster victims worldwide since 1992.

“Heart to Heart had a disaster response team and mobile medical unit deployed in Texas ahead of the storm and has been working with local partners to provide medical support and aid distribution,” Thibodeaux noted.

Donations to CompTIA’s hurricane and flood relief campaign may be made at http://bit.ly/CompTIACares. Specify CompTIA when prompted for a company donation match to ensure your contribution is matched two-for-one.
