WASHINGTON – CompTIA, the world’s leading technology association, released the following statement from CompTIA’s executive vice president for public advocacy Elizabeth Hyman following the Federal Communications Commission passage of the Restoring Internet Freedom Order.
“CompTIA is disappointed in the FCC’s decision to abolish rules that prevent blocking, throttling and anti-competitive behavior. The internet must remain open to promote innovation and economic growth. Even with the FTC as a new cop on the beat, we are concerned that there are now gaps in the rules that are designed to protect businesses and consumers online. Today, the FCC put the future benefits of the internet in serious jeopardy. However, we urge state legislatures to wait for the legal process to play out. Attempts to remediate the issues created by the FCC with a patchwork of conflicting new net neutrality laws would be counter-productive.”
