Downers Grove, Ill. – The founder and owner of a technology business who has championed industry diversity and served as mentor and confidante for scores of colleagues has been selected as Member of the Year by CompTIA, the world’s leading technology association.
Tracy Pound, founder and managing director of MaximITy, a technology training, consultancy and project management company based in Tamworth, England, will be recognized as CompTIA Member of the Year at the association’s Annual Member Meeting in Chicago March 21-23.
“Tracy continues to be an amazing asset to the CompTIA member community and the industry at large,” said Todd Thibodeaux, president and CEO, CompTIA. “Her steadfast belief that with the right understanding and initiative any partner can transform their business for the future is contagious. We’re so happy and proud to honor her as Member of the Year.”
Pound has been active with CompTIA since 2012, initially as a trustmark assessor, faculty member and member of the UK Community Executive Council. She was elected to the CompTIA Board of Directors in 2016.
“Tracy is passionate about growing the IT workforce around the world and a valued board member,” said Amy Kardel, chairwoman of the CompTIA Board of Directors and co-founder and chief administrative officer of Clever Ducks. “This award is well deserved.“
In nominating Pound for the honor, association colleagues praised her for “always promoting the benefits and value of CompTIA” and noted that she is “passionate about encouraging greater diversity and equality in tech.”
“As a technical business woman, she totally immerses herself and her efforts in advancing the needs of the industry and the community,” the nominators continued. “This perspective has helped expand and broaden CompTIA’s voice to women about careers in technology. She has the most positive outlook and is always willing to help. If she doesn’t have the answer she’s always willing to find one.”
Pound has more than three decades of experience in the technology industry, starting out as a programmer before moving into consultancy, training and project management roles. She has successfully deployed large scale IT infrastructures – including hardware, software and services – into many industries, including financial services, construction and general manufacturing, with projects ranging from £10k to in excess of £1.4M.
In 2016 Pound was named the IT Woman of the Year by PCR, the respected media property dedicated to covering the computer and IT industries in the UK.
Established in 2016, the CompTIA Member of the Year Award celebrates the contributions and commitment of a single Premier Member to the greater community. John Tippett, vice president and general manager of Aisle8, was the inaugural recipient of the award. To learn more visit https://www.comptia.org/about-us/comptia-member-of-the-year-award.
