The following statement is attributed to Cinnamon Rogers, Executive Vice President of Advocacy, The Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA), regarding today’s House passage of the U.S.-Mexico Canada Agreement (USMCA):

“Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the U.S.-Mexico Canada Agreement (USMCA), a victory for the American workforce and U.S. economic leadership. CompTIA hails the action by the House and urges the Senate to swiftly pass USMCA so the President can sign the agreement into law. Trade with Canada and Mexico supports 250,000 American jobs in the tech sector and this landmark agreement will aid in the creation of the industry’s workforce.

“CompTIA applauds the hard work of the Administration and Congress to modernize the rules for trade in the United States and setting a new precedent for contemporary trade rules. The USMCA contains the strongest digital and intellectual property chapters found in any free-trade agreement to-date ensuring America’s global technology leadership. Moreover, Canada and Mexico are the tech industry’s leading partners for tech product exports, accounting for one-third of U.S. tech goods exports, according to CompTIA’s Tech Trade Snapshot.

“CompTIA would like to recognize Ambassador Lighthizer, Speaker Pelosi (D-CA-12), House Ways & Means Committee Chairman Neal (D-MA-1) and Ranking Member Brady (R-TX-8), House Trade Subcommittee leaders Representative Blumenauer (D-OR-3) and Representative Buchanan (R-FL-16), Digital Trade Caucus leaders Representative DelBene (D-WA-1) and Representative LaHood (R-IL-18), and the Democratic Working Group for offering a win for America’s economy and workforce.”
