Staff training is a key component to any successful business. But when budgets are tight, margins are razor thin, and sales are flat; where does the small business owner turn? Even in these challenging economic times, business owners need to make sure their team has access to relevant instructional content. CompTIA recognizes this need and is making every effort to assemble a comprehensive library of training materials from some of the leading industry experts—and all readily available in the Member Resource Center, FREE to our members.

Much of this content has been developed as a direct result of discussions that occurred during our CompTIA Communities meetings over the past year, including the Small Business Owners IT Security, Healthcare IT, Managed IT Services, Cloud/SaaS and IT Services & Support groups. The member-driven component of these training programs and material keep it relevant and make CompTIA membership one of the best values in the channel.

So just what are some of the latest training components added to the MRC?

On the Human Resources front we recently added several new items, including an Employee On-Boarding Guide that sets the stage, the expectations, and provides instant engagement between an employer and a new employee. We also added an Employee Orientation Guide to help walk you through the first 90-days for your new staff members.  And as long as you are adding employees, it’s beneficial to understand and offer salaries that are in line with the industry—and with our new Guide to Creating a Salary Administration Plan you and your team will be experts in the process!

Do you want to let the world know about your latest team addition? The Media Coaching Presentation will show you and your team effective methods for being a company spokesperson and best of all, help you boost your business by following best practices.

On the Healthcare IT front we recently added a three-part educational track that provides an overview of the HIT marketplace, a deeper dive on how to enter the market, and wraps up with the workflow documentation needed to help you succeed. In addition, there are several new guides you can download, including; the Seven Steps to Healthcare IT, An Overview of Ambulatory Workflow, and the 10 Week Guide to HIT.

There are also several recent additions to our Educational Video on Demand series including sessions on Cloud/SaaS (how it can transform your business, how to capitalize on it), IT Security (ethical hacking, implementing security plans), IT Services (business planning, creating services focused sales team), and Healthcare IT (HIT fundamentals, regulatory compliance). Our archived webinars provide a host of additional training opportunities for you and your employees. Recently added to the portfolio are Selling Online Backup as a Service, Four Key Decisions All Growth Companies Must Get Right, and The Debate over Data Breach.

So even if your training budget is tight this quarter or for the next year, your employee training programs don’t need to suffer or come to an end. The answer is as simple as guiding your team to the CompTIA Member Resource Center and uncovering a substantial collection of informative informational content, videos, and other material.
