TechAmerica was invited to participate in a meeting with House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-VA) and IP Subcommittee Chairman Issa (R-CA) to update the vast and growing coalition supporting patent litigation reform. This standing-room-only meeting, made of industries as diverse as manufacturing, technology companies, service industries, the travel industry, and retailers and restaurants, had the feel of a pep-rally, with both Chairmen stressing the need for patent litigation reform, and their commitment to making it happen.
They indicated that they are planning to drop a bill soon, and are ramping up cosponsors. However, they are coordinating closely with the Senate supporters on timing, so that legislation moves quickly through both Houses and to the President’s desk.
TechAmerica has established these principles as items that should be included in patent litigation reform legislation.
Chairman Issa indicated that the IP Subcommittee would convene hearings to evaluate the legislation in light of several recent judicial decisions. TechAmerica will continue to engage in this important issue. Please contact Joe Rubin at [email protected] for more information.
