Oh, We’re Moving on Up

As of December 13^th, CompTIA’s new address will be 3500 Lacey Road, Suite 100, Downers Grove, IL 60515.  We’ve been an ardent Chicagoan for 25 years – so we’re not moving far.  In fact, our new office is only 3.5 miles from our former headquarters in Oakbrook Terrace, IL.  But as the Jeffersons said in their iconic TV show, we’re truly moving on up.

Why move?  It’s simple.  Our new office space will allow us to better serve you, our members and the larger IT channel.

With our new space, we will enhance our productivity and foster greater innovation.  The office space’s open environment will encourage collaboration among our various departments and with visitors. It has a mix of private offices, workstations, remote hotelling spaces and open break-out areas where people can meet informally. It also will house a dedicated recording and editing room to create webinars and online training materials for members.

Our office space also is flexible for telecommuting and remote staff.  Approximately 2/3 of our staff works at headquarters on a regular basis.  When remote staff needs to reserve an office at headquarters, they can access an online reservation system to secure their space. By using personal and enterprise class videoconferencing, online meetings and online collaboration tools, travel by remote staff is reduced, while at the same time allowing for workers from all of our global offices to communicate with each other quickly and easily.

We want to showcase innovation throughout the office as well.  We invite our members to display their latest product innovations and technology solutions at our new headquarters.  InFocus is leading this showcase with its projection equipment.

Go Green

Our new building is truly green and complements how we’re already incorporating green practices into our daily worklife.  The new building gained its ENERGY STAR rating in 2008 and a Silver LEED rating in 2010. When we began construction of the office’s interior, we were mindful of reducing negative environmental impacts and reused many of the pre-existing conditions, used sustainable material and practiced responsible recycling during the demolition of the space.

Our office space uses energy-efficient lighting, automatic light sensors and an automatic building shut down system.  We’re implementing a new document management system and records retention policies and procedures to move closer to a paperless office. We’re also participating in the building’s active recycling program and have reusable ceramic coffee mugs and water glasses for staff and visitors.

Speaking of visitors, we hope you’ll come by soon. Our new headquarters is centrally located for easy access. It’s just 20 miles from O’Hara Airport and 25 miles from Midway Airport.  It’s also near one of the most vital intersections in the Chicago area at the convergence of the East-West Tollway (Interstate 88) and North-South Tollway (Interstate 355).  We have 32,000 square feet of first-floor office space at the 12-story Sara Lee Corp. building, part of the Esplanade at Locust Point development in Chicago’s western suburbs.   Simply walk in the building door, and you’re there.
