For a time, businesses’ print processes were a no-man’s land for managed services providers; they were considered the domain of companies selling printers and related equipment. But managed print services have grown and evolved in recent years, with MSPs making definite in-roads working with manufacturers, vendors and VARs to add print management capabilities to their portfolios.
So, to reinforce and assist the growth of managed print, CompTIA today launched its new Managed Print Trustmark, a business-level credential for managed print services solutions providers that commit to a code of conduct, industry-accepted best practices and high levels of customer service and support. It’s designed to qualify and differentiate organizations providing on-premises managed print services.
According to Corey Simpson, staff leader of CompTIA’s Managed Print Services Community, the Managed Print Trustmark wasn’t initiated by CompTIA but rather by the community itself. “The community wanted to address the issue of accreditation and training for solution providers,” Simpson said. “The Managed Print Trustmark was the end result of two years of working toward that goal.” He specified that the community began defining what the credential would be in January 2011 and wrapped up this past August.
