CompTIA’s advanced level cybersecurity certification, CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP+) is now the new CompTIA SecurityX, the latest addition to the CompTIA Xpert series.
CompTIA’s Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP+) re-branded to SecurityX will include an update and a release of the next exam version CAS-005 on December 17, 2024. CAS-005 will replace the current CASP+ exam, CAS-004.
What is the new CompTIA SecurityX?
CompTIA SecurityX is an expert-level cybersecurity certification for security architects and senior security engineers who are charged with leading and improving an enterprise’s cybersecurity readiness. SecurityX is a part of the advanced, or “Xpert” level certificationsin the CompTIA portfolio.
The certification status of current CASP+ certification holders will not be affected by the name change to SecurityX, nor will the continuing education program be impacted by the change.
If you are an active CASP+ certification holder, you’ll receive a notification to download the updated SecurityX badge. You can also download a new transcript and certificate in CertMetrics that shows the rebrand.
The rebranded CompTIA SecurityX training and certification will continue to:
- Validate job tasks performed by a security professional with 10 years of IT experience and 5 years of security experience
- Be designed around the tasks performed by senior security engineer and security architect roles
- Be a natural progression from the job roles aligned to Security+
