Are fundamental tech skills in demand?

Absolutely. During 2023, employers listed 10.5 million job postings in the US seeking candidates with basic or advanced digital skills.

How can Tech+ help me launch my career?

CompTIA Tech+ is the only training and certification that helps you determine if you have a competency for information technology and if it’s the right career path for you. It covers everything from basic concepts and security to software development and data, so you can feel confident as you continue your career journey.

How do I train for the Tech+ exam?

CompTIA Tech+ offers an innovative learning experience with a wide range of resources designed for a variety of learning styles. They include lessons with embedded videos, interactive simulations, exam practice questions and assessments, actionable insights into your progress, study guides, and more.

CertMaster Learn is a comprehensive eLearning platform that offers knowledge checks to help you retain more information, real-world simulations for practical experience, and analytics for understanding your progress.

CertMaster Practice helps you build confidence as you prepare for your Tech+ exam. It pinpoints any gaps in your knowledge, so you know which topics to focus on more while studying, and it provides immediate feedback for even more helpful support.

What technology vendor does Tech+ align with?

All CompTIA certifications, including Tech+, are vendor neutral. Each exam covers multiple technologies and isn’t limited to one platform, so learners build knowledge and IT skills that can be applied in various tech environments. With a vendor-neutral certification, you can be more adaptable and consider multiple solutions when troubleshooting.

When will Tech+ be available?

CompTIA Tech+ training will be available starting September 4, 2024. CompTIA IT Fundamentals (ITF+) will be retired in 2025.

No. Like CompTIA ITF+, Tech+ is a pre-professional certification, so it’s good for life and never needs to be renewed.

I have my CompTIA ITF+ certification. Do I need to take Tech+?

If you have your CompTIA ITF+ certification, you don’t need to take Tech+. Since CompTIA ITF+ and Tech+ certification exams cover similar material, we’d recommend preparing for a high-stakes exam like CompTIA A+ instead.

Why is CompTIA ITF+ changing to CompTIA Tech+?

The transition from CompTIA ITF+ (FCU-061) to CompTIA Tech+ (FCU-071) is part of our commitment to providing learners with up-to-date knowledge that aligns with the latest industry developments. CompTIA Tech+ learning products introduce you to the foundational knowledge and technical IT skills necessary to understand, utilize, and troubleshoot today's technology. The Tech+ certification is an upgrade from CompTIA ITF+ (FC0-U61), with more focus on practical, hands-on skills in computing, IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, and emerging technology.

What’s my next step after Tech+?

After getting your Tech+ certification, you’ll have the skills to work in IT. With that confidence, you’ll be ready to dive into A+ to expand your skills.

Why A+?

With the A+ certification, you can easily get hired and break into the tech world. Hiring managers look for A+ certifications when searching for candidates. A+ certifications lead to help desk jobs that make an average salary of over $60,000, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
