Do IT Better at CompTIA’s Annual Member Meeting

CompTIA’s Annual Member Meeting is your chance to get involved. With a variety of open, casual meetings on the agenda packed full of industry experts, you don’t want to miss this event.

AMM2016_386_editWe sure are living in some interesting times. Open your laptop or turn on the TV and you know what I’m talking about. Amidst the chaos and negativity, people want to know what they can do. I have a suggestion for you – get involved in what matters to you and your family. For CompTIA members, that means turning inward and contributing to the IT industry. What better place to collaborate than CompTIA’s Eighth Annual Member Meeting in Chicago this March 21 to 23?

This year we welcome Autodesk’s Tom Wujec as our keynoter. He will talk about innovation; why it matters, why it is a vital engine of economic growth and how to foster it within any organization – from plucky startups to billion-dollar legacy companies. We’re also excited to bring back our popular PowerTalk sessions on the topics of smart cities, new competitors and emerging technologies. And, of course, we’ll honor our second annual Member of the Year – Maximity’s Tracy Pound.

At the core of AMM are our community and council meetings. AMM offers a relaxed agenda that encourages members to attend as many meetings as possible. There will also be ample opportunities for discussions that will help shape the direction of the association and the industry for the year to come.

Here’s a snapshot of what you can expect of the 2017 AMM Community and Council agenda:

  • Managed Services Community: Join an MSP turned MSSP who is focused on a specialized vertical, as well as a service delivery manager who is consolidating multiple PSAs from acquisitions. Hear their stories – challenges and successes – and continue the discussion in community roundtables.
  • IT Services and Support Community: Hear short, sharp presentations from industry experts on the new services mindset, the latest in automation, and how service delivery can play a leading role in driving business growth.

  • IT Security Community: Watch live as Andrew Bagrin of My Digital Shield hacks a typical small business in less than 10 minutes and learn from MSPs and MSSPs that are rapidly growing their business by successfully selling security.
  • Cloud Community: Building on last year’s hit Cloud Speed Dating session, we are adding more great topics to choose from! Whether it’s new competitive cloud players, emerging technologies or vendor management, come ready to learn and contribute to the discussion.
  • Advancing Women in Technology Community: Explore the challenges and opportunities at different stages of your technical career – from mentoring to business succession – and identify how you can utilize different work styles as a leader.
  • Future Leaders Community: Work with small teams to target an audience and develop a robust plan to attract young professionals to the technology industry and look forward to the radical technology that Generation Z will bring with them into the workforce.

In addition to our community meetings, CompTIA’s Human Services Information Technology Advisory Group is hosting an open meeting on Wednesday, March 22 at 2:00 p.m. and CompTIA’s Advisory Councils will be meeting jointly to discuss cybersecurity and workforce development. The group will also host panels for the Business Applications Advisory Council and the End User Commission.
