The CompTIA New and Emerging Technologies Committee recently announced its leadership for the newly minted committee.
Thomas Woteki, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer will be leading the Committee as Chair. Dr. Woteki (“Dr. Wo”) has more than 25 years of experience in large-scale systems engineering and integration, as well as software development, in both the public and private sectors. He has extensive experience with commercial product development and with medical device product development and its associated regulatory issues. As CTO of MAXIMUS Federal, Dr. Woteki will identify new and emerging technologies and strategic partners for our organizations, as well as serve as a principal interface into industry activities. He joined MAXIMUS as part of the Acentia acquisition, for whom he served as CTO and led its Centers of Excellence. For Cisco, he led a global consulting practice and the development and introduction of its telemedicine solution. At Northrop Grumman, Dr. Woteki was Chief Engineer guiding the development of the Defense Travel System for the Department of Defense and GovTrip for the General Services Administration. At the American Red Cross (ARC) he was CIO responsible for consolidating data center operations and developing a modern blood processing system. Prior to the ARC, Dr. Woteki was Director of Worldwide Clinical Data Systems at Merck Research Labs. Earlier, at BDM International, he was Chief Engineer responsible for the design and development of the EDGAR System for the Securities and Exchange Commission, one of the earliest electronic filing systems. He also served as Chief Statistician in the Energy Consumption Division of the Energy Information Administration. Dr. Woteki held full-time faculty appointments at Princeton University and The University of Texas at San Antonio. He is currently active in various industry associations. Charles “Chuck” Brooks, Vice President for Government Relations & Marketing for Sutherland Global Services, will assume the role of Committee Vice Chair. Chuck leads Federal and State & Local Government relations activities. He is also responsible for the Marketing portfolio (Media, PR, Digital Outreach, Thought Leadership, Strategic Partnering, Branding) for the Federal and State & Local markets. He is also assisting in finding prospects for M & A in the Federal space. Chuck has extensive service in Senior Executive Management, Marketing, Government Relations, and Business Development and worked in those capacities for three large public corporations. In government, he served at the Department of Homeland Security as the first Director of Legislative Affairs for the Science & Technology Directorate. He also spent six years on Capitol Hill as a Senior Advisor to the late Senator Arlen Specter where he covered foreign affairs, business, and technology issues. In academia, Chuck was an Adjunct Faculty Member at Johns Hopkins University where he taught graduate level students about homeland security and Congress. He has an MA in International relations from the University of Chicago, and a BA in Political Science from DePauw University, and a Certificate in International Law from The Hague. Chuck is widely published on the subjects of innovation, public/private partnerships, emerging technologies, and issues of homeland security and cybersecurity.
Both Tom and Chuck will be working closely with the NET Committee members to help outline the scope, priorities, and deliverables for the NET Committee.
