A tourist on a European bus tour boasting eight countries in seven days once asked a travel mate, “where are we?”
The reply: “it’s Tuesday, we must be in Paris.” For some in the IT industry, the year’s whirlwind of industry events can leave them feeling similarly detached as they travel from one venue to the next. After a while, the keynotes, trade show floors and after-hour parties start to blend together. Amidst all this frenetic activity, CompTIA’s Annual Member Meeting (AMM) is a breath of fresh air in the annual IT event schedule, the place where the industry comes together to collaborate, sparking inspiration and innovation.
AMM boasts great keynotes (including a New York Times crossword puzzle constructor and go-to expert illusionist) and education sessions in the form of PowerTalks, but the heart of AMM can be found in our most-engaged members, who collaborate in community meetings throughout the gathering. A relaxed agenda allows participants to attend numerous, open community meetings where they’ll learn from industry thought leaders about the latest developments in a variety of compelling topics. There will also be ample opportunities for discussions that will help shape the direction of the association and the industry for the year ahead. In essence, AMM is the collective meeting of our members’ minds.
So what can you expect if you attend AMM this year? Here are a few highlights from our seven community meetings:
- IT Services and Support
Through a TED Talks style series of presentations, hear from experts how to maximize profits through great customer experience before breaking into round table discussions on community activities and initiatives for 2016.
- Managed Services
Learn how you can avoid the common pitfalls in vendor-partner relationships and build a two-way exchange that will drive growth, efficiency and profitability for both. Then, jump into a workshop designed for beginners and experts alike, where you'll take away actionable items that will help develop your managed services business. - Advancing Women in IT and Future Leaders Joint Session
Alex Sheen from because I said I would talks about the importance of keeping promises. Learn how making and keeping promises can help you reach your goals and enrich your life. Then break into discussion groups where we'll further concentrate on community goals and initiatives for the year. - IT Security
2112 Group’s Larry Walsh will lead a panel of security experts as they look beyond throwing money at security problems to identify how solution providers can both curb risk and keep costs in check. There will also be a look at CompTIA’s latest research on security solutions for 2016. - Cloud
After Nines’ Joe Panettieri leads an all-star industry panel that will explore best practices for monetizing and securing cloud solutions. In a round of 'speed dating,' members will then discuss with industry peers the latest cloud trends, threats and opportunities, and come away with business insights and actionable best practices. - Managed Print
