Hey, what’s good, YouTube? It’s Du’An. So lately, I’ve been getting a lot of questions about CompTIA’s new CertMaster Learn training for the CompTIA Security+ exam. The CertMaster Learn is a new training platform that CompTIA has put together to help their certification students get trained and prepare for multiple areas in IT.

I am CompTIA Security+ certified and the Security+ has helped me throughout my career. I’m also CompTIA A+ certified, and that helped me obtain my first job after the military.
What Is CompTIA CertMaster Learn?
Now, let’s talk about this CertMaster Learn. CompTIA CertMaster Learn is a comprehensive and interactive self-paced online training course that teaches the content and skills needed for a career in technology, that helps candidates prepare for the CompTIA Security+ certification exam with confidence.
It combines instructional lessons with timed practice tests, assessments, videos and performance-based questions to provide over 40 hours of content tied to exam objectives.
A customizable learning plan helps learners stay on track with their studies while robust analytics bring awareness of strengths and weaknesses, ultimately guiding the learner to develop the necessary skills for success on their CompTIA exam in their IT career.
Now, before we walk through some of this, there’s a couple keynotes that I want to take away from here. When you’re preparing for the Security+, there’s a lot of information to cover, and to me, there’s never been a clear platform for the training. There’s always, “Okay, here’s videos. Here’s books. Now study for the exam.” But it seems that with CertMaster Learn, it gives you a complete learning plan and everything for preparing for the exam, and also a way for you to track it, and questions combined all in one place, which makes sense.

So, we have the CertMaster Learn here, and we’ll go through it.
Once you get in here, you navigate, you can set your completion date, and it lets you know your goal, your learning progress, and all of that good stuff.
Now we’ll click study. When you get in here, this is what I kind of like. Oftentimes, we’ll just skim through books and videos, and it’s kind of hard to measure what you’re understanding. Here you can actually track and measure your level of confidence.
If we go to this table of contents, you can see all my levels of learning that I have had:
- Anything that I have high, I pretty much know
- Anything medium, I need to go over a little bit more
- Anything low, I definitely need to study some more
As you can see, there’s video trainings in here rather than just always definitions.
Another thing I want to go over is going to be the flashcards, the assessments and the game center, and all that good stuff. Now, if we go through the performance-based questions, you can see these come up and you go through each question.
You have a dashboard, and if I click continue, my performance-based questions will come up, and then you can match these and set these up as they go to help you prepare for the exam that you’re actually studying for.
The next thing I thought was pretty cool was flashcards. You can actually use this on the go. One thing I have to mention is that there is no app for this, but it does have a friendly mobile version, so if you’re going on the go, you can have your flashcards right on deck. There’s over 500-something flashcards.
Now, the game center, for me, was pretty cool. You go up here and it has different matching games to where you’re timed, you get a score from when you go through it, and all that good stuff, so for me, I thought this was really interesting and interactive for me to not just do the same studying over and over. I can actually go through something like the game center and keep myself alert and sharp and have a little fun when I’m studying for these certification exams. That’s one thing I did like. That’s a plus.
Now, one quick note is that through the CertMaster Learn, you have one final assessment exam, and you only get to take that one time, so I highly recommend when you’re going through the training, make sure you go all the way through the training and then take that final assessment because once you go through it once, that’s all you’ll get, so that’s something to keep in mind when you’re going through this training.
How Much Does CompTIA CertMaster Learn Cost?
How much is it? Well, for what we’re talking about here, for the CertMaster Learn standalone, it’s $499. Now, with the $499, all you’re going to get is the CertMaster Learn training. Let’s just say for the certification exam training is $499.

Your employer may finance your exams or your training, or if you are a veteran, you can look into VA benefits. Another option would be if you are looking to transition into IT from another career field, to go through your state’s Full Employment Council [if your state has one] and a lot of times, they have programs to pay for whatever training and certifications that you are seeking to take. So and that’s another option, and you can use that for any certification and any training school that you’re looking to go through. Check out the Full Employment Council, your job and also the VA.
