There are many types of communities. Some exist online, some involve meetings in the neighborhood where you live and some simply refer to a similarly situated group. So what is and isn't a CompTIA Community and why should you get involved?
It Isn't About the Medium
A CompTIA Community doesn't refer to a communication medium such as online discussion boards or face-to-face meetings. In fact, CompTIA is striving to facilitate community communication in various forms including face-to-face meetings, webinars, conference calls, discussion boards, and this blog.
It Is About Thought Leadership
Where does CompTIA get all of its ideas for developing new offerings? Communities! Member and industry communities to be exact. CompTIA has just completed a series of face-to-face member community meetings with our Managed Services community in New York, our IT Services and Support community in New Orleans and our Security community in Los Angeles. In attendance were small VARs and large vendors. All came from different perspectives but with similar common goals....how do we become more trusted in the marketplace, how do we get better at what we do, how do we know what better is and what should we be focusing on for 2010 and beyond. Great goals and ones that CompTIA can help our members capitalize on.
It Is About Engagement
CompTIA Communities provide a platform for our members to interact with their association (CompTIA!!) and each other for the purpose learning and directing our resources to create tools and information that will help their business grow.
