CompTIA is committed to doing its part in training the tech workforce of tomorrow. As the leading global source of vendor-neutral IT certifications we have a big responsibility. Since the initiation of CompTIA’s programs more than 10 years ago a large part of our focus has been on adult learning. Working with our training partners CompTIA has certified more than 1.2 million people helping them start or transition into a new career.
Over the coming months and years we will be placing a larger emphasis on building the grassroots of IT learning at the high school level. We recently introduced Strata Fundamentals specifically to meet this challenge. And a challenge it is!
Working hand-in-hand with our Educational Foundation, CompTIA has taken a big step not only in support of our local community (Chicago and surrounding suburbs) but also in support of tomorrow’s tech leaders through support of the Chicago Academy for Advanced Technology (CAAT).
CAAT is a new Chicago public high school designed and led by the Center for Polytechnical Education, with strong support from private sector technology leaders and entrepreneurs. Students learn through practical, hands-on experience, mentorship and a curriculum infused with 21st century skills and an aptitude to succeed.
We believe the model being developed at CAAT has the potential to revolutionize the way technology is incorporated into the day-to-day curriculum of students. To back up that belief CompTIA has provided a donation of $150,000 to CAAT to be used as a “challenge grant” to the tech industry to step up and support this real-time learning laboratory.
