“If you position yourself as the subject matter expert, the opportunity for you is going to take off,” said Stuart Selbst, president and CEO of Stuart Selbst Consulting.
Solution providers asked questions and shared tips about hosting educational marketing events like “lunch and learns,” as well as utilizing local media and social media.
“Don’t be shy about self-promotion in marketing,” advised Michael Siggins, vice president and publisher, ChannelPro.
MJ Shoer, president of Jenaly Technology Group, said media outlets in his area have been very responsive to submitted articles and columns, which helps build name recognition and credibility.
Other resellers said good, targeted marketing lists; Web newsletters and blogs; and customer testimonials had worked to establish themselves in a particular field.
