STEP to Guide Green Practices for AV and IT
CompTIA is engaged with InfoComm’s Sustainable Technology Environments Program (STEP), an effort by manufacturers, designers, integrators, programmers and the users of technology to guide project and building owners to implement best practices for green AV and IT and to promote sustainable use of technology.
InfoComm has completed significant work on the universal and AV specific components of STEP, focused on the electronic systems that operate within sustainable buildings. CompTIA now is active in developing parts of the framework specific to IT, such as data centers and the cloud; the role of managed services, including managed print services; cabling; and product end-of-life issues.
